DeWitt Roof Installation

What actually happens on the day your new roof goes on? Most homeowners have never watched one, so here is the short version. We arrive early, tarp the landscaping, and set the dump trailer clear of your driveway. The old material comes off down to the bare deck. Anything soft gets replaced before we go further. New underlayment, ice and water shield, and flashing go on in that order, then the shingles. We magnet sweep the yard twice before we leave. On a typical DeWitt house the whole thing takes one to two days, and you can stay home through all of it.

Reliable Roofing Company serving DeWitt

What should you actually check before hiring anyone? Start with the credentials. Any DeWitt roofing company worth hiring can show you licensing, insurance, and a manufacturer certification that is current. We are a GAF Master Elite President’s Club member, which fewer than three percent of roofers in the country hold. Our crews are factory trained, not subcontracted out week to week. Ask about storm restoration experience too, since carriers are involved in a lot of mid-Michigan roofs. Here is what to ask any contractor before you sign:

• Are you licensed and insured in Michigan?
• What manufacturer certification do you carry?
• Are your crews employees or subcontractors?
• What does the workmanship warranty cover?

Certified Roof Replacement

When does installation turn into a full DeWitt roof replacement? Usually when the existing layers cannot support anything new. Two layers of shingles already on the deck is the most common reason. Soft or delaminated sheathing is the other. If your house sits in the sun all afternoon and you want to stop doing this every twenty years, metal roofing is worth a real conversation. Panels cost more up front and last two to three times as long. Financing options are available either way, and warranty coverage comes with both.

Our estimator measures, inspects the attic when he can get to it, and photographs the roof so you see what he sees. The written quote comes with the visit rather than a week later.
